  • The two-day training for representatives of regional coalitions on Resolution 1325 proved to be an innovative and effective platform for developing strategies to support veterans' families. By bringing participants together in an open space and incorporating game simulations, the event created a dynamic environment where not only current challenges were discussed, but also practical solutions were developed to enhance the quality of support for veterans' families.
The training covered several key thematic areas, including the development of the Veteran Hub, the mobilization of women veterans, the economic security of veterans and their families, and the reintegration of veterans into small communities. The recommendations and conclusions drawn from the event can be grouped around several core approaches: promoting sustainable economic security, fostering human capital development, building partnerships for change, and advancing gender equality

Development of Veterans' Hubs as Backbone Institutions at the Community Level to Provide Services to Veterans' Families:

It is crucial to establish a strong support network that brings together veterans and their families, ensuring they have access to the resources and services they need.

Reintegration and economic security:

Efforts should be focused on developing effective strategies to ensure the economic security of veterans and support their successful reintegration into civilian life. Promoting financial literacy for veterans and their families is key, as is creating special opportunities for veterans—or the families of fallen servicemen and women—to start new businesses.

Mobilization of women and female veterans:

It is important to develop specialized programs to support women veterans, taking into account their unique needs and challenges, and to develop platforms for broad discussion and the formulation of positions by coalition members on the mobilization of women veterans.

Support in small communities:

It is crucial to focus specifically on ensuring access to services and support in small communities, where resources may be much more limited than in larger cities, which already have a broader infrastructure that supports the faster reintegration of veterans.

Partnership and cooperation:

It is recommended to strengthen partnerships between government organizations, non-profit institutions, and the private sector to improve coordination and efficiency in service delivery. A successful example of integrating various social services for veterans and their families is the Lviv Office for Support of Military Families.

Changes adaptation:

It is crucial to continuously adapt to the changing conditions and needs of veterans, implementing flexible approaches and innovative solutions. In this regard, it is important to highlight the readiness and openness of both the regional coalition teams and the Women's Perspectives Center team to introduce new formats and innovative approaches into their ongoing activities.

The strategic session for representatives of the regional Coalitions - 1325 was implemented by the World of Communities LLC at the request of the Center for Women's Perspectives.
