Promoting social cohesion in impacted communities

To foster positive interaction and cooperation among community members, the project supports community-led initiatives aimed at building trust. Initiative groups work to develop and implement social cohesion plans in 12 target communities across the regions. These plans are the outcome of capacity-building training sessions. The efforts are focused on ensuring the sustainability of the humanitarian response and preventing the unintended segregation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and the local population. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is dedicated to building trust and promoting social cohesion within the communities involved in its ongoing shelter programs.

As part of the project, World of Communities LLC organizes Government Game Modeling events, with the following topics at the core of the scenarios:

    Building social cohesion

Supporting the successful integration of internally displaced persons (IDPs)

    Encouraging positive local activism

Enhancing community life through grassroots initiatives

    Embracing the value of diversity

Promoting inclusion of people with disabilities, ethnic minorities, and other marginalized groups in community efforts

The World of Communities game simulation, based on the adapted methodology of 'local decision-making modeling,' will help answer key questions such as:

How can we establish productive communication within the community?

How can we engage community members and attract resources for key projects?

What resources the community already has, and what additional resources are needed?

How can we prioritize local development projects and decide where to focus our efforts?

What are the consequences of neglecting the integration and involvement of different stakeholder groups, including IDPs, in community development processes?
